Ten items to bring on your next snorkeling trip

Snorkeling

Planning for a vacation and wondering what to bring for your next snorkeling trip? We have compiled a list of the ten most essential gears to carry for your upcoming adventure!

Snorkeling lets you explore the waters below with the help of proper gears and equipment that helps you breathe the surface air and see clearly underwater. You can see the fascinating sea life from a different perspective by snorkeling, but you need the right equipment if you want to really enjoy the experience. Here is a quick review of various must-haves that could maximize your comfort and snorkeling experience.

Water

It’s important to stay hydrated when you’re caked in sun and sea all day. Making sure you keep hydrated when traveling is easy with a travel water bottle. Your body needs water to function correctly, and it also keeps your energy levels up. Lack of water can cause fatigue, a headache, and dizziness.

Extra Swimsuits

If we swim every day, we like to have a backup pair in case the first pair doesn’t dry out after a wash the following day. It is always wiser to overpack and have an extra swimsuit than to pack light.

Waterproof pouch bag

Waterproof bags are great to take to the beach and keep your valuables safe and dry. They can be used to store valuables including keys, cash, credit cards, and identification documents. The size and dimension of the waterproof pouch bag should be considered to make sure your phone will not only fit but fit comfortably.

Wetsuit or Rash Guard

Wetsuits provide a layer of protection over your skin which can save you from things that can hurt you. A wetsuit can protect you from cuts and nicks if you snorkel in close proximity to rocks, coral, or other sharp objects.

Whether or not you need to wear a wetsuit or rash guard depends on a few things. Obviously, the water temperature is the most important, but the length of time you will be snorkeling, and personal preference also comes into play. Wetsuits protect your body from the cold but if you will be snorkeling in warmer waters, you may opt for a rashguard.

Snorkel Vest

A snorkel vest is a practical addition to your snorkeling equipment, especially if you struggle with buoyancy control or tire easily when swimming. They allow you to float lower in the water, making it less of a strain on your neck to keep your face in the water. Additionally, vests give you a larger range of motion, which makes it simpler to steer and move through the water.

Reef Safe Sunscreen

A reef-safe sunscreen makes it possible for you to spend a sun-safe day by the water while also protecting the coral reefs and other marine life. Reef-safe sunscreens offer sun protection in a very gentle way.

Dry Bag

To protect your valuables from water and sand when snorkeling, waterproof bags are a necessity. You can take them with you onto a boat or directly into the water while our belongings stay dry inside.

Microfiber Towel

This towel may be used quickly after air-drying and is more absorbent than regular towels. Also, it is incredibly light. This towel should be on your packing list for every trip, not just when snorkeling.

Underwater Camera

Without a waterproof camera, you won’t be able to capture the amazing coral reefs and other marine life underwater. Snorkeling is a fantastic activity and the beauty of the underwater world deserves to be photographed. You don’t need professional equipment to snap pictures underwater. The most popular underwater camera out in the market is the GoPro. Remember that the best snorkeling and diving camera is easy to use, lightweight and lets you have loads of fun while taking epic underwater photos.

Mask defogger

Your mask’s likelihood of fogging up will be reduced if you use some form of defogging agent. Some commercial defogging drops or spray is a popular choice. They can be found for pretty cheap online or at your nearest dive/snorkel shop. Put a few drops of the defogging liquid in the mask, rub it around with a finger, and rinse briefly with fresh water.
